Section 5. Scripture Reading
Today, we turn our hearts to the Word of God.
Our scripture focus is from John 16:12-15. This passage reveals the promises Jesus made about the Holy Spirit—our Helper, Counselor, and Guide. As we read, let’s prepare our minds to receive God’s truth and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us today.
Introduction to the Scripture Passage:
In this Scripture, On his last night with the Disciples, Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure. He promises that the Holy Spirit will come and continue to teach them and reveal God’s plans. It’s a reassuring promise that even when Jesus was physically gone, His Spirit would still be with His followers, guiding them into all truth.
Scripture Reading (NIV):
John 16:12-15
12. “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
13. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.
He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
14. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
15. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
Let us meditate on these words, embracing the promise of the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Section 6. Pastoral or Intercessory Prayer
Let us come before the Lord in prayer, trusting in His goodness and the promised guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Our hearts are a place of need and gratitude, and today we remember the Spirit’s work in our lives—bringing comfort, clarity, and truth. As we pray, let’s open ourselves anew to God’s presence and invite His Spirit to move in mighty ways.
Intercessory Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, who guides us into all truth.
We pray for Your wisdom and discernment in each decision we face, for your comfort in times of trouble, and for Your strength to live out Your Word daily. Lord, we ask that Your Spirit would move powerfully within our community, our families, and our world—bringing peace where there is chaos, hope where there is despair, and love where there is division.
We trust in Your promises, Lord, and believe that Your Spirit is at work in us and through us.
Congregational Prayer Response (NIV):
All:
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth…”
Help us to listen and obey, Lord, trusting that Your Spirit is leading us into fullness of life.
May we be attentive to His voice and obedient to His call.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Section 7. Offering
As we continue to worship, let’s remember that giving our tithes and offerings is an act of love and trust in God.
It’s a way for us to honor Him, acknowledge His sovereignty over our lives, and support the work of His kingdom here on earth. Every gift, no matter the size, is precious in His sight and helps us to make a difference in our church and community.
Message on Giving:
When we give cheerfully and generously, we participate in God’s ongoing work—a partnership rooted in love and gratitude. Just as Jesus gave His all for us, so too are we called to give back with joyful hearts. It’s not about the amount, but about the worship, obedience, and trust behind our donations.
Prayer of Thanks for Tithes and Offerings:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gifts You have entrusted to us.
We give them gladly as an act of worship, trusting You to multiply and use them for Your glory. May our offerings bring hope, healing, and love to those in need. Help us to be faithful stewards of all that You provide, and may our giving reflect our love for You. We dedicate these gifts to Your service, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Section 8. Special Music
As we prepare to hear a special musical selection, let’s take a moment to reflect on how music is a powerful way to draw closer to God.
Whether it’s a song of praise, a hymn of thanksgiving, or a moving piece of worship, music helps us express what words sometimes cannot. It’s an offering of our hearts and a reminder of God’s greatness and love.
