Responsive Reading

Leader: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Congregation: Through whom also we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.

Leader: And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,

Congregation: Because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

All: And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Section 3. Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before you today with grateful hearts, thankful for your love, your grace, and your presence in our lives. Open our hearts and minds to receive your Word. Help us to understand it, apply it to our lives, and share it with others. May your Spirit fill this place and transform us from the inside out. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Section 4. Praise and Worship

Let’s lift our voices together in praise! Our worship team will lead us in songs that express our love, adoration, and gratitude to God. Let’s sing with all our hearts, knowing that He is worthy of all our praise.

Let’s worship Him together, lifting our voices in song and expressing our love for Him.

Section 5. Scripture Reading

Today, we’re going to be diving into a powerful passage from the book of Romans, chapter 5, verses 1 through 5.

The Events

In this passage, Paul reminds us of the incredible gift we’ve received through faith in Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice, we have peace with God, access to His grace, and the hope of glory. He also encourages us to see suffering as an opportunity for growth, knowing that God’s love is always with us.

Romans 5:1-5 (NIV)

1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer

Let’s come together now in a time of prayer, lifting up the needs of our community, our nation, and our world.

Intercessory Prayer

Heavenly Father, we lift up those who are struggling today – those who are facing challenges, experiencing pain, or feeling lost and hopeless. Pour out your love and grace upon them, and remind them that they are not alone. Help them to find strength in their suffering, knowing that you are working all things together for their good. We also pray for our leaders, that they would make wise decisions that honor you and bless our nation.

Congregational Prayer Response

Lord, pour out your love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

Section 7. Offering

Now, let’s take a moment to give back to God as an act of worship through our tithes and offerings.

Giving is not just about supporting the church; it’s about expressing our gratitude to God and trusting Him to provide for our needs.

Prayer of Thanks

Gracious Father, we thank you for the blessings you have poured out upon us. We offer these tithes and offerings as an act of worship and gratitude. May they be used to further your kingdom and bless others. We trust you to provide for all our needs, and we give you all the glory. Amen.

Section 8. Special Music

Now, let’s welcome [Name of singer/group] who will lead us in a special song.

“Suffering? Secretly, It’s the KEY to UNLOCKING God’s Unstoppable Love In Your Life?”

Imagine Sarah, a dedicated Sunday school teacher. She faced a crushing diagnosis that threatened to dim her spirit. Yet, as she dove into Romans 5:1-5, a strange thing happened. The verses about glorying in suffering initially confused her, but slowly, as she spent time in the scripture, she discovered a new truth.

She realized that the trials she was facing weren’t a punishment, but an invitation to experience God’s unshakable love and to grow in perseverance. She began to see her suffering as a unique opportunity to grow and know God better.

The bible study group became a place of comfort, and everyone started to grow closer and more involved with God. Sarah’s newfound peace and joy became a beacon of hope, inspiring others to embrace their own struggles and find God’s love in the midst of them.
