Section 5. Scripture Reading

Today, we’re going to dive into a powerful passage from 2 Corinthians, a message about transformation, reconciliation, and the incredible gift of new life in Christ.

Introduction

Paul’s letter to the Corinthians is a reminder that in Christ, we are made new. We are no longer defined by our past, but by the love and grace of God.

Events

Paul emphasizes that our understanding of people should shift from a worldly perspective to a spiritual one. He teaches that through Christ, we are reconciled to God and given the ministry of reconciliation. This means we are called to share this message of hope and new life with others.

Bible Verse (NIV) 2 Corinthians 5:16-21:

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer

Let us lift up our prayers to God, seeking His guidance and grace.

Intercessory Prayer

Heavenly Father, we pray for those who are struggling to find reconciliation, for those who feel lost or burdened by their past. We ask that you reveal your love to them, that they may experience the new life you offer in Christ. Help us, Lord, to be your ambassadors, sharing your message of hope and reconciliation with all those around us.

Congregational Prayer Response

“Lord, help us to live as your ambassadors, sharing the message of reconciliation with all. Amen.”

Section 7. Offering

Giving is an act of worship, a way to express our gratitude to God for His abundant blessings.

Offering

As we give our tithes and offerings today, let us remember that all we have comes from God. Let’s give with joyful hearts, knowing that our gifts are used to further His kingdom.

Prayer of Thanks

Dear Lord, we thank you for the opportunity to give back a portion of what you have so generously provided. May these offerings be used to bless others and to honor you. Amen.

They Called Him ‘Lost Cause’… Until THIS Verse Changed Everything (And It Can Change YOUR Congregation Too)

Friends, let me tell you about a time I felt utterly lost. Like a ship adrift, no compass, no stars, just the endless, churning sea of doubt. It was during this period that 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 landed in my life, not as a verse, but as a lifeline. You know that feeling, right? When the words on the page jump out, grab you by the collar, and shake you awake?

I was wrestling with the “worldly view” Paul speaks of. Judging, being judged, trapped in a cycle of negativity. Then, verse 17 hit me: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” It wasn’t just words; it was a promise, a reality. Suddenly, the past didn’t define me. The old me, the one weighed down by mistakes and regrets, began to fade.

And then, the ministry of reconciliation. It wasn’t just about me anymore. It was about sharing this incredible transformation with others. God, in His infinite wisdom, tasked us with bridging the gap, with being His ambassadors. Imagine the weight of that, the privilege! To carry a message of hope, a message that says, “You are not defined by your past. You are loved. You can be made new.”

This isn’t just a sermon; it’s a story. A story of redemption, of hope, of transformation. And it’s a story that your congregation desperately needs to hear.
