The Story: A Tale of Two Brothers
Growing up, my brother and I couldn’t have been more different. While I was the cautious one, always playing it safe, he was the risk-taker, constantly pushing boundaries. One summer, he decided to go on a treacherous hiking trip despite my warnings.
Halfway through his journey, disaster struck. He fell, breaking his leg in a remote area. As I sat by his hospital bed, feeling a mix of worry and “I told you so,” something unexpected happened. My brother’s eyes lit up as he shared how this accident led him to meet a fellow hiker – a skilled EMT who not only saved his life but also inspired him to pursue a career in emergency medicine.
Years later, my once-reckless brother is now saving lives daily, all because of that painful fall. His suffering became a catalyst for his life’s purpose, much like how Jesus’ suffering became the catalyst for our salvation.

Section 5. Scripture Reading
Introduction to Hebrews 2:10-18
Today, we’re diving into a powerful passage from Hebrews that reveals the depth of Christ’s love and the purpose behind His suffering. This scripture helps us understand why Jesus had to become fully human and how His experience relates to our own struggles and victories.
The Events in Hebrews 2:10-18
This passage explains how Jesus, the Son of God, took on human form to become our perfect Savior. It shows us that through His suffering, He can truly understand and help us in our own trials. It’s a beautiful picture of God’s plan to bring us into His family and free us from the fear of death.
Hebrews 2:10-18 (NIV)
10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. 12 He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.”
13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.”
-And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.”
14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—
15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants.
17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Certainly! I’ll continue with the remaining sections as requested.
18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer
Intercessory Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, knowing that Jesus understands our struggles intimately. Just as He became like us to save us, help us to become more like Him each day. We pray for those who are suffering, that they may find comfort in knowing Christ suffered too. For those who fear death, we ask for the peace that comes from knowing Jesus has broken its power. Lord, make us instruments of Your love and mercy in this world.
Congregational Prayer Response
All: Lord, we trust in You, just as Jesus did. Make us faithful brothers and sisters in Your family, singing Your praises in all circumstances. Amen.
Section 7. Offering
The Importance of Tithes and Offerings
As we prepare to give our tithes and offerings, let’s remember that this act is more than just financial support for the church. It’s a tangible expression of our trust in God’s provision and our commitment to His kingdom. Just as Jesus gave Himself fully for us, we have the opportunity to give back to Him with joyful hearts.
Prayer of Thanks
Gracious God, we thank You for Your abundant blessings in our lives. As we present these offerings, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from You. Use these gifts to further Your work in our church and community. May our giving be an act of worship that honors You and reflects the generosity You’ve shown us through Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Section 8. Special Music
Introduction to Special Music
As we continue in worship, let’s prepare our hearts to hear a beautiful musical offering. May this song remind us of God’s faithfulness and draw us closer to Him.
