Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit. It’s like God’s version of “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” but for your soul.
Welcome and Announcements
Hey there, family! It’s so great to see all your smiling faces here today. You know, every time we gather like this, I’m reminded of Jesus’ words in John 14. He tells us that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Isn’t it amazing that we get to come together and explore what that means for each of us?
Before we dive into our time of worship, I’ve got a few quick announcements to share:
- Community Picnic: Next Saturday at 11 AM in Central Park. Bring a dish to share and let’s enjoy some fellowship!
- Youth Group Car Wash: Our teens are raising funds for their summer mission trip. Stop by the church parking lot this Sunday afternoon to get your car sparkling clean.
- Bible Study: New series on the Book of Acts starts this Wednesday at 7 PM. It’s not too late to join!
Remember, you’re all part of this beautiful church family. Let’s make an effort to greet someone new today and share God’s love with each other.
Call to Worship
Let’s prepare our hearts for worship by reflecting on these powerful words from John 14:6-7:
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.'”
Church family, let’s respond together:
Leader: Jesus is the way.
Congregation: We will follow Him.
Leader: Jesus is the truth.
Congregation: We will trust in Him.
Leader: Jesus is the life.
Congregation: We will live for Him.
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before you with grateful hearts. Thank you for your son Jesus, who shows us the way to you. As we gather here today, open our eyes to see you more clearly, our ears to hear your voice, and our hearts to receive your love. Help us to know you better and to reflect your light in this world. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Praise and Worship
Church, it’s time to lift our voices in praise! Our wonderful worship team is going to lead us in some songs that celebrate God’s goodness and grace. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or just like to hum along, remember that God delights in the praises of His people. So let’s stand together and worship our amazing God!
Scripture Reading
Today, we’re diving into a powerful passage from John’s Gospel. It’s a conversation between Jesus and His disciples that reveals some incredible truths about who Jesus is and what He offers us. Let’s open our Bibles or follow along on the screens as we read John 14:8-17:
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer
Loving Father, we come to you inspired by your Word. Just as Jesus revealed himself to Philip and the disciples, we ask that you reveal yourself to us today. Help us to see you clearly in our lives and in the world around us.
Lord, we pray for those who are searching for truth and meaning. May they find their way to you through Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life. We lift up those in our community who are struggling – with illness, with doubt, with loneliness. Send your Holy Spirit, the Advocate, to comfort and guide them.
We ask for the courage to live out our faith boldly, doing the works of Jesus in our daily lives. Help us to keep your commands and to love one another as you have loved us.
Congregational Response: Lord, hear our prayer. As Jesus promised, we ask in His name, trusting that you will do it. Amen.
Offering
Family, it’s time for us to participate in the act of giving. You know, when we give our tithes and offerings, we’re not just supporting the church’s ministries – we’re expressing our trust in God’s provision and our gratitude for His blessings.
Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” As we give today, let’s remember that our offerings are a way of aligning our hearts with God’s purposes.
Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your endless generosity towards us. As we give back a portion of what you’ve blessed us with, we pray that you would use these gifts to further your kingdom. May our offerings be an act of worship that honors you and blesses others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Special Music
Before we dive into our message today, we have a special treat for you. Our very own choir has prepared a beautiful rendition of “How Great Thou Art.” As they sing, I encourage you to reflect on the greatness of our God and how He’s working in your life right now.
