Welcome and Announcements

Hey there, family! It’s so great to see all your smiling faces here today. You know, every time we gather like this, I’m reminded of how much God loves each and every one of us. He’s calling out to us, just like Wisdom does in Proverbs 8. Isn’t it amazing that the Creator of the universe wants to connect with us?

Before we dive into our time of worship, I’ve got a few quick announcements to share:

  • Community Picnic: Next Saturday at 11 AM in Central Park. Bring a dish to share and let’s enjoy some fellowship!
  • Youth Group Car Wash: This Sunday after service. Help our teens raise money for their summer mission trip.
  • Bible Study: New series on the Book of James starts Wednesday at 7 PM. Don’t miss it!

Remember, church isn’t just about Sunday mornings. It’s about living out our faith every day and supporting each other along the way. Now, let’s turn our hearts to God and prepare for worship.

Call to Worship

Let’s focus our hearts and minds on God’s presence among us. I’ll read from Proverbs 8, and I invite you to listen for God’s voice speaking to you through these words:

“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: ‘To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.'”

Wisdom is calling out to us, friends. Let’s respond with open hearts and minds, ready to receive what God has for us today.

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before you with grateful hearts. Thank you for your love, your grace, and your wisdom that calls out to us each day. As we gather in your presence, open our ears to hear your voice, our minds to understand your truth, and our hearts to receive your love. May everything we do in this time of worship bring glory to your name. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Praise and Worship

Now, let’s lift our voices together in praise! Our worship team is going to lead us in some songs that celebrate God’s wisdom and love. Whether you’re a longtime believer or just checking things out, I encourage you to participate however you feel comfortable. Remember, worship isn’t about perfect pitch – it’s about a heart turned toward God. So let’s stand and sing together!

Scripture Reading

Today, we’re diving into a beautiful passage from Proverbs 8. This chapter personifies wisdom as a woman calling out to all people, offering guidance and understanding. It also reveals wisdom’s role in creation, showing us how fundamental it is to God’s nature and plan for the world.

Let’s read Proverbs 8:1-4 and 22-31 together:

1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:
4 “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.

22 “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;
23 I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.
24 When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water;
25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,
26 before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth.
27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
30 Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.

Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer

Loving God, we thank you for the gift of wisdom that calls out to us. Like a loving parent, you desire to guide us in the best paths for our lives. We pray for open hearts to receive your wisdom and the courage to follow where it leads.

Lord, we lift up our community to you. May your wisdom guide our leaders, teachers, and all those in positions of influence. We pray for those facing difficult decisions, that they would seek and find your guidance.

We also pray for those who feel lost or confused, that they would hear wisdom’s call and find their way back to you. In all things, help us to trust in your perfect wisdom and timing.

Congregational Prayer Response

Let us respond together with these words inspired by Proverbs 8:

All: Lord, we hear wisdom calling. Give us ears to listen and hearts to respond. May your wisdom be our delight, now and always. Amen.

Offering

You know, friends, when we give our tithes and offerings, we’re doing so much more than just keeping the lights on in this building. We’re participating in an act of worship, acknowledging that everything we have comes from God. Our giving is a tangible way of saying, “God, we trust you with our lives and our resources.”

Let’s pray together as we prepare to give:

Heavenly Father, thank you for your boundless generosity toward us. As we give today, we do so with grateful hearts, recognizing that all we have comes from you. Use these gifts to further your kingdom and to bless others as you’ve blessed us. May our giving be an act of worship that honors you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Special Music

As we continue in our time of worship, we have a special treat for you. Our choir has prepared a beautiful rendition of “The Wisdom of God,” a song that beautifully captures the essence of today’s Scripture reading. Let’s open our hearts as they lead us in worship.
