Section 2. Call to Worship

Scripture Call

Today’s call to worship comes directly from Luke 13:10-17, where Jesus heals a woman who had been bound for 18 years. His compassion reminds us that we serve a God who breaks chains and restores lives.

Leader: Come, let us worship the God who heals the brokenhearted.
People: We lift our voices to the One who sets us free.

“When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, ‘Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.’” (Luke 13:12, NIV)

Section 3. Opening Prayer

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts today. Thank You for bringing us into Your presence and reminding us that in Christ, there is freedom and restoration. Open our eyes to see Your love, our ears to hear Your Word, and our hearts to respond with joy. May everything we do in this service bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Section 4. Praise and Worship

Introduction

Now let’s lift our voices in praise. Worship is more than just singing—it’s turning our hearts fully toward God. Whether you love the old hymns or the newer worship songs, let’s remember that our God delights in the praises of His people. So let’s stand together and worship Him with joy and thanksgiving.

Section 5. Scripture Reading

Introduction

This morning’s Scripture comes from Luke 13:10-17. It’s a story about Jesus healing a woman who had been crippled for 18 long years. What looks like a simple act of kindness turns into a powerful reminder that God’s mercy is greater than any rulebook.

The Events

Jesus was teaching in the synagogue on the Sabbath when He noticed a woman bent over, unable to straighten up. With compassion, He called her forward and set her free. While the synagogue leaders protested, the people rejoiced, glorifying God for what He had done.

Scripture (NIV)

Luke 13:10-17

10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,
11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.
12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.”
13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”
15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?
16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer

Intercessory Prayer

Lord, we thank You that You are the God who sees us and the God who sets us free. Just as You saw the woman who was bound for so many years, You see every burden in this room today. We lift up the hurting, the lonely, the sick, and the weary. May Your healing power and compassion bring freedom, restoration, and hope to each one.

Congregational Response

Leader: “When Jesus saw her, He called her forward…”
People: Lord, call us forward into Your freedom today.

Section 7. Offering

Message

Giving is not just about money—it’s an act of worship. Every gift is a declaration that God is our provider and that we trust Him with everything we have. Through our tithes and offerings, we join in His mission to heal, restore, and reach others with the gospel.

Prayer of Thanks

Father, we thank You for every gift given today. May these offerings be used to expand Your kingdom, bless our community, and bring glory to Your name. Help us give with cheerful hearts, knowing that everything we have belongs to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Section 8. Special Music

Introduction

At this time, we are blessed with special music. As you listen, let the words and melody prepare your heart for God’s message.

She Waited 18 Years for Freedom…

What Are You Still Carrying That Jesus Wants to Set You Free From Today?

Picture this moment. A woman, bent over for nearly two decades, unable to look people in the eyes, living every day in pain. She walks into the synagogue that Sabbath probably expecting the same routine—listen quietly, stay unnoticed, leave quietly.

But then Jesus sees her. He doesn’t just glance—He notices. He calls her forward in front of everyone. Imagine her trembling as she steps out. And then He speaks: “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.”

In an instant, she straightens up. For the first time in 18 years, she looks heavenward. Her lips burst into praise. The crowd rejoices, but the religious leaders fume—because grace broke their rulebook.

This story isn’t just history—it’s a mirror. How many of us walk into church bent over by shame, regret, fear, or spiritual weariness? And yet, the same Jesus still sees us, still calls us forward, and still sets us free.

Now here’s where it becomes practical for you. This message isn’t meant to stay on the page—it’s designed to come alive in your church.

  • Imagine your congregation hearing this story unfold in your voice—seeing Jesus’ compassion, feeling His authority, and experiencing His freedom.

  • Picture the hope rising in their hearts as you deliver a sermon crafted with clarity, warmth, and biblical truth.
