Section 5. Scripture Reading
Today, we’ll be diving into Revelation 22:12-21. This passage is a powerful reminder of Jesus’s promise to return and the ultimate hope we have in Him.
About Revelation 22:12-21
In this passage, Jesus reaffirms His promise to return and bring His rewards with Him. He identifies Himself as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, emphasizing His eternal nature and authority. The passage contrasts those who are blessed and have access to the tree of life with those who are excluded from the city of God. It concludes with an invitation to come and receive the free gift of the water of life, along with a warning against altering the words of the prophecy.
Revelation 22:12-21 (NIV)
12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you[a] this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer
Let’s join together in prayer, lifting up our needs and the needs of our community to God.
Intercessory Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude and anticipation. We thank you for the promise of Jesus’s return and the hope we have in Him. We lift up those who are thirsty for the water of life, asking that you would draw them to yourself and fill them with your Spirit. Help us to live in a way that reflects your love and grace, so that others may see you in us. We also pray for those who are struggling, for those who are sick, and for those who are in need of comfort. Surround them with your peace and provide for their needs. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Congregational Prayer Response
Come, Lord Jesus.
Section 7. Offering
Now, let’s take a moment to give back to God through our tithes and offerings. This is an opportunity to express our gratitude and support the work of the church.
Message
Giving is an act of worship, a way to honor God with our resources. When we give generously, we demonstrate our trust in God’s provision and our commitment to His kingdom.
Prayer
Gracious God, we thank you for the blessings you have poured out upon us. We offer these gifts as an act of worship, trusting that you will use them to further your kingdom and bless others. May our giving reflect our love for you and our commitment to serving others. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Section 8. Special Music
