I know I shouldn’t have had that third donut, but the Spirit’s conviction is just making me want a fourth. It’s like He wants me to fail! (He doesn’t. I’m just projecting.)

Section 2. Call to Worship
Let’s turn our hearts and minds to God as we prepare to worship. Let’s reflect on Romans 8:14-15: “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.””
This morning, let’s remind ourselves that we are children of God, filled with His Spirit, and free from fear. Together, let’s lift our voices and our hearts to Him.
Section 3. Opening Prayer
Dear Lord, we come before you today with grateful hearts. Thank you for your love, your grace, and your presence in our lives. Open our hearts and minds to your Word, and help us to grow closer to you each day. Guide our thoughts, words, and actions so that we may reflect your love to the world. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Section 4. Praise and Worship
Now, let’s lift our voices in praise to God. Our worship team has prepared a selection of songs to help us express our love and gratitude to Him. Whether you prefer contemporary tunes or timeless hymns, let’s all join together and lift our hearts toward God. Let’s sing praises to the One who has given us life and salvation.
Section 5. Scripture Reading
Today, we’ll be focusing on a powerful passage from Romans, chapter 8, verses 14 through 17. This section speaks to the heart of our identity as children of God and co-heirs with Christ.
About Romans 8:14-17
In these verses, Paul emphasizes that those who are led by the Spirit of God are truly God’s children. We are not slaves to fear but have been adopted into God’s family, giving us the right to call Him “Abba, Father.” This intimate connection with God means we also share in Christ’s inheritance, including His glory and, yes, sometimes His suffering.
Scripture: Romans 8:14-17 (NIV)
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba,[b] Father.”
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer
Let us come together in prayer, lifting up our needs, our concerns, and our gratitude to God.
Intercessory Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of your Spirit, who guides us and leads us into truth. We pray for those who are struggling with fear and anxiety, that they may know the peace that comes from being your children. We ask for your guidance in our lives, that we may follow your will and reflect your love in all that we do. Help us to remember that we are not alone but are part of your family, united in Christ.
Congregational Prayer Response
Let us all say together, “Abba, Father.“
Section 7. Offering
Now, let’s take a moment to give back to God through our tithes and offerings. Giving is an act of worship, an expression of our gratitude for all that God has provided.
Prayer for the Offering
Dear Lord, we thank you for the blessings you have poured out upon us. We offer these gifts as an act of worship, trusting that you will use them to further your kingdom and bless others. May our giving be a reflection of our love and devotion to you. Amen.
Section 8. Special Music
Before we move into the message, let’s enjoy a special musical performance that will uplift our spirits and prepare our hearts to receive God’s Word.

“Is Your ‘Inner Voice’ the Holy Spirit… Or Just a Really Bad Idea?”
(Unlock the Truth About True Guidance in Romans 8:14-17)
Imagine this: you’re at a crossroads. Doubt whispers in one ear, fear screams in the other. You feel lost, unsure of which path to take. Does this sound familiar? It’s a place we’ve all been.
But what if I told you that the answer, the true guidance you seek, isn’t some complicated formula or secret knowledge? What if it was as simple as recognizing the voice of a loving Father?
That’s the power of Romans 8:14-17. It’s a lifeline thrown to us in the midst of the storm, a reminder that we are not alone, that we are loved, and that we have a guide – the Holy Spirit – ready to lead us home. It’s not just a verse; it’s a promise of belonging.
This week, I’ve been diving deep into these verses and I want to share a personal moment of how it transformed my understanding of my own challenges. I’m going to unpack what these verses mean and how you can tap into that same sense of guidance, freedom, and belonging in your own life.
You know, I could just give you the scripture breakdown and send you on your way… and you’d probably be just fine. But here’s the thing… This isn’t just about understanding the words. It’s about experiencing them.
