Focusing Our Hearts on God
Friends, let’s take a moment to turn our eyes to the One who loves us more than we can imagine. Isaiah 55:1 says, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters.” Isn’t that beautiful? God’s calling us right now to come to Him, to find what our hearts really need. Let’s respond together with a simple hymn—sing with me, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” and let’s lift our voices to the God who’s waiting with open arms.
- Responsive Call: Leader: “Come, all who are thirsty!”
- Congregation: “We come to you, Lord!”
- Hymn Line: “Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace.”

Open our hearts now to hear Your voice through Isaiah 55. Help us feel Your love, trust Your ways, and find the joy of walking with You. We love You, Lord, and we’re here to worship You with all we’ve got. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Section 5. Scripture Reading
Introduction to Isaiah 55:1-9
Today, we’re stepping into a powerful word from God in Isaiah 55:1-9. It’s an invitation straight from His heart to ours, and I think you’re going to love how it speaks to us right where we are.
The Events in the Passage
In this part of Isaiah, God’s speaking to His people—folks who’ve been through tough times, feeling worn out and far from home. Through the prophet Isaiah, He offers them something incredible: a free gift of life and satisfaction. It’s not about earning it or paying for it; it’s about accepting His love and mercy. He challenges them to stop chasing empty things and turn to Him instead, promising that His ways are higher and better than anything we could dream up ourselves. It’s a call to trust Him and find real joy in His presence.
The Scripture: Isaiah 55:1-9 (NIV)
1 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.
4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the nations.
5 Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.”
6 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Section 6. Pastoral Prayer or Intercessory Prayer
Intercessory Prayer
Lord, we come to You today because You’ve invited us—all of us who are thirsty—to find life in You. We pray for those in our community who feel empty, who are chasing things that don’t satisfy. Draw them close, Father, and show them Your love that never runs dry. Help us, Your people, to seek You while You’re near, to trust Your higher ways even when we don’t understand. Be with the hurting, the lost, and the weary—let them taste Your mercy and find peace. We lift this all to You, in Jesus’ name.
Congregational Prayer Response
Congregation: “Lord, we come to You, trusting that Your thoughts are higher than ours, and Your love satisfies our deepest needs. Amen.”
Section 7. Offering
A Word on Giving
Friends, giving our tithes and offerings isn’t just about money—it’s an act of worship, a way to say, “God, we trust You with everything.” It’s like bringing our “wine and milk” back to Him, knowing He’s the source of all we have. Your generosity keeps our church family going and spreads His love beyond these walls. Let’s give with joyful hearts today!
Prayer of Thanks
Father, thank You for providing for us so faithfully. We bring these offerings to You as worship, honoring You with what You’ve given us. Bless these gifts, Lord, and use them to touch lives and grow Your kingdom. We’re grateful to partner with You in this way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The Day I Stopped Chasing Shadows”
I used to be that guy—running on empty, chasing every shiny thing that promised to fill me up. Work harder, scroll longer, buy more stuff. Sound familiar?
One rainy afternoon, I hit a wall—exhausted, soul-dry, sipping on life’s equivalent of flat soda. Then I stumbled into Isaiah 55:1-9. “Come, all you who are thirsty,” it whispered, like a friend who’d been waiting for me to show up. No cash needed—just come.
I pictured God at this big, messy table, pouring out joy and mercy like it’s Thanksgiving every day. That moment shifted something. I stopped chasing shadows and started sitting with Him. And you know what? My heart’s never been fuller. Maybe yours doesn’t have to stay thirsty either.
